In June, IAC completed a United Airlines “Retro Continental Airlines” Paint Livery in our Amarillo, Texas site.
The process for completing this special livery was that we first started with stripping and repainting the aircraft. This took our painters 9-days and 1700 man-hours to complete. The stripes on the fuselage and winglets were all masked out by hand. The Akzo Nobel base coat clear coat paint system was used on the fuselage, tail, and engines, while the Akzo Nobel Eclipse single stage gloss paint system was used on the wings and horizontal stabs.
Joe Abney our Amarillo General Manager stated, “We are proud to be selected by United Airlines to paint aircraft 435 with the retro Continental Airlines paint livery. It is a great tribute to Continental Airlines.”
