Shannon, Ireland and Amarillo, Texas, Tuesday July 22nd, 2025 — International Aerospace Coatings (“IAC” or the “Company”) a global leader in aircraft painting and aviation services, announced today that the Amarillo City Council has approved a Location Incentive Agreement with the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation (AEDC), a Tax Abatement Agreement with the City of Amarillo and an Amendment to the lease at Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport
On July 22, the City Council voted in support of a comprehensive economic development package to facilitate IAC’s continued growth in Amarillo. This included approval of a Location Incentive Agreement between the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) and IAC, which is designed to support the company’s expansion plans and workforce development efforts. In addition, the Council approved a Tax Abatement Agreement granting an 80% abatement over 8 years, as well as an Amendment to IAC’s existing lease at the Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport, which expands the company’s leased square footage to accommodate future growth.
The AEDC is dedicated to driving economic growth in the Amarillo region, focusing on job creation, business retention, and attracting new industries. During Tuesday’s meeting, the council voted in favor of a $700,000 Location Incentive Agreement between the AEDC and IAC. The approved agreement indicates that IAC agrees to use its best efforts to expand Amarillo Operations, creating and maintaining new Full Time Employees and increasing Payroll. Incentive disbursements will be tied to annual performance targets.
AEDC Interim President and CEO, Doug Nelson, said, “International Aerospace Coatings has proven to be a valuable community partner and employer in Amarillo. Their continued investment and expansion at the Amarillo Airport not only strengthens our local economy but also reflects their long-term commitment to our city. We’re proud to support a project that will bring additional high-quality jobs and further enhance Amarillo’s position in the aerospace industry.”
“Following news of our recent expansion plans, we are honoured to receive this support from the Amarillo community as we continue to invest in our long-standing operations here. We are in operations in Amarillo for over thirty years now and we look forward to further strengthening and building our relationships and commitment to the region.” said Paul Dunphy President of US Operations at IAC.
City of Amarillo Mayor Cole Stanley stated, “The City of Amarillo is proud to support IAC’s continued growth and investment in our community. For more than 30 years, they have contributed to our workforce, our economy, and our airport’s success. This expansion not only brings new jobs but also reinforces Amarillo’s role as a hub for aerospace excellence. We look forward to a strong future together as we continue building a vibrant, opportunity-rich Amarillo.”
This announcement follows IAC’s recent disclosure of plans to build a state-of-the-art widebody aircraft hangar at Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport (AMA). This new facility, located adjacent to the company’s existing five hangars, is expected to begin construction in the coming weeks. It will create approximately 65 new jobs, increasing IAC’s local workforce to over 200 employees. IAC currently operates five paint hangars at AMA, four narrowbody and one widebody. This new widebody hangar will further strengthen IAC’s long-standing presence of over thirty years at AMA.
“We have been looking forward to IAC’s expansion here at the Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport for quite some time and we are very happy that IAC has chosen Amarillo for the expansion of their business; thanks to the entire IAC team,” said Michael Conner, Director of Aviation for the City of Amarillo.
